ThrillVille

Frontier are developing a new theme park game, for the PSP, Xbox and PS2 called ThrillVille

Quote:Thrillville

Visit Thrillville for a nonstop party in a theme park you create. An all-access pass to adventure and fun, Thrillville lets you experience a fully interactive and customizable amusement park where you can play dozens of midway minigames, interact with your park guests, and even build and ride roller coasters and over 100 attractions. Thrillville combines elements of simulation, party games and social interaction like nothing before it - all in one of the most family-friendly console games ever!

For the first time ever, Thrillville allows gamers of all ages to easily build and customize the coaster of your dreams. Gone are the days of the complex PC techniques used in other coaster games. Rather, Thrillville's easy to use building mode has been designed specifically for the console platforms and makes building all 75-plus rides from wooden, corkscrew and inverted coasters to merry go rounds, trains and carnival rides, easy, and most importantly, fun.

Imagination is the only height limit with Thrillville, where the fun ranges from racing on go-kart tracks you put together and playing mini-golf on courses you designed to joining friends for dozens of four-player party games, from bumper cars to arcade shoot-'em-ups. You can also tour the park on foot - a first for theme-park titles - chatting and joking with all the guests to help them out and make sure they're enjoying themselves. Slated for a fall release, Thrillville is being developed by Frontier Development for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PSP.

RE: ThrillVille
Ok.. I'm not a big posting type of person..but I must have my two cents here.

Note: The following text is from Thrillvilles Website, and copyright by Lucas-Arts...

#1: Complex PC Techniques?!?!
The "complexity" of the PC Techniques are what allows me to do things that you can't do on console based games... lets say for instance building a coaster track segment in a glass tunnel underwater! Oh and lets not forget about the many add-ons and downloads that allow us to further enhance our plays.

#2: Arcade Games...
Ok.. so I see Thrillville has arcade style games....and so did SimThemePark...to a point. While I don't have the arcade gaming in RCT (for now) I'm usually too busy building my theme park or doing other things than sitting there playing arcade games, which I could do somewhere online!

#3: To Purchase or Not To Purchase...that is my question
Yes, I would purchase this. After reading the quoted text above I would most definately purchase the title..how-ever in my personal and honest opinion I would (for the current time being) stick with my RCT that immerses me in a cornocopia (Spell check, isle 3!) of fun. I often even find myself hours past in what feels like minutes during game play. But all in all, I myself would purchase this..if not for the fund and "excitement" probably just to add on to my collection of themepark/circus/carney games.

RE: ThrillVille
If you looked at the screenshots and trailer, it looks like a complete copy of RCT3... many of the flat rides and the coasters, and even some of the graphics used (that little boy from the startup screen of RCT3 - his head is in Thrillville) are in Thrillville. Hopefully Atari can sue Frontier and David B's butts, if they really are using RCT3's coding only modified and etc, and hopefully Atari has rights to the coding.

And also, I don't think it is right for them to be adding several of the things that the RCT community has been asking for!

RE: ThrillVille
No doubt! And I totally agree with you there. I mean..we all already know about the whole issue going on...and is it me or does it seem ironic how alot of gaming companies and programmers seem to be changing ball games..entirely. What's with that??

I wonder if it would be a violation to actually program new flat rides, or to write/program for playable games within RCT...*shrugs* Probably so with how this monopolizing society is these days. Ahh well...beggers can't be choosy. At least I've got a game that I enjoy playing.

RE: ThrillVille
I am on Frontiers side here! Im not a great fan of Atari. Frontier did all the coding, images etc, so thay have the right to use the 'boy' (used in RCT3) for ThrillVille. Frontier can use there coding they used for RCT3, and use all the content etc in ThrillVille.

Frontier will have the rights to the coding, Atari will have the rights to the name (Rollercoaster Tycoon 3) and maybe box art, and minor assets.

RE: ThrillVille
I hate it when PC games go console, it spoils them. They did it with the Sims and that turned out rubbish, and one of my favourite games ever, Unreal Tornament, is gonna go to console! Soon there will be no "PC Only" games, even though its the greatest game playing plaform there is.

How can you be so certain? You can't be. None of use really know what their contract is.

I just think it is wrong of Frontier to abandon us and go work on a complete clone for a different publisher - and it even looks like a clone, which is sad.

RE: ThrillVille
I hate to point this out but the programming languages for all three consoles are different so there is no possible way they could just modify rct3's code and make it run on another console without rewriting the whole thing

RE: ThrillVille
I most likely will not buy this game. Since I got my new computer, I will spend most of my time on it instead of the PS2.
